　顾卓为人很地道，他是老三届的，比她们大不少，也当过几年兵。他曾说，那年月自己能当上兵，很幸运。的确，若不是当兵他该像其他人一样下乡或去兵团了。当兵后，或许是因为他来自大城市，又是一流中学的高材生，加上根红苗壮，工人家庭出身，新兵连训练后部队就把他分到汽车连了。那时，开车可称得上是叫人羡慕的黄金兵种了，因为即使提不了干，复员后也容易找到工作。不像现在，交几千块钱、糊弄两个月就能拿到本子，没什么可稀罕的。大概是由于当兵那段经历的缘故，顾卓对从部队回来两眼一摸黑的人很理解。在人事局，顾卓是个才子，他是“文革”后第一批大学生，加上人随和、稳重，跟局长们的关系不错。他对林黎、彤非这类小有才气的人很是关照，彤非和林黎从部队转业，借此完成了自己职业生涯的转换，一个做了记者，一个当了编辑。这便是林黎、彤非一直对顾卓充满感激并尊称他“大哥”的原由。
　　90年代中期，顾卓自动离职下海了。当时，所有的人都觉得惋惜，因为他那时已做了两年的处长，还有往上升的可能。刚下海那两年，他着实过了一段艰苦打拼的日子，整天东奔西跑的，车自然也是自己开着。只是到了近几年，生意做大了，想的事多了，为了安全他才聘了司机。但是，这并不是说他绝对不自己开车，跟他打天下的那辆二手的老牌林肯，他甚至从来不让除自己以外的任何人动，凡沾重大场合还都会亲驾出席。他说，公司做大了，后来买的车显然比它高级，但那辆林肯却是他的福星。不过，这两年由他当司机来载别人的机会毕竟少多了，可以说，只有很少的人才能享受到这种待遇。

林黎笑着调侃道：“顾大老板，俗话说‘拳不离手，曲不离口’，你这手艺老不练，别手潮吧！”
　　顾卓开心地回敬了一句：“毛主席教育出来的一代，一切早已融化在血液中了。”
　　车上顿时活跃起来，大家开始聊起一些好玩的事。林黎忽然想到还不知去哪儿呢，便问：“咱们这是去什么地方？彤非神神秘秘的，到现在都没告诉我。”

当然有人说像，有人说不像，有人笑。等大家的议论结束了，阶梯教室平静下来，曲原才说：“当然不像，像就见鬼了。好了，我的自我介绍结束，下面从第一排同学开始，每一个同学都要出一个节目，唱歌也行，讲故事也行，跳个舞也行，实在啥子都不会，学个狗叫鸭叫也行。”
　　由于曲原的活跃，联欢会就在这种欢乐的气氛下开始了，最初的几个同学还拘谨一些，但在曲原的推动下，很快就放开了，教室里不时传出欢乐快活的笑声,oil painting reproduction。
